5 Remove the sensor using a long socket (3/4-
inch drive).

Before refitting, clean the mating flanges
and sensor body thoroughly. Check the con-
dition of the copper washer.

Refit in the reverse order.

Tightening torque for temperature sensor:
20 Nm (14.8 Ibf ft)

N.B

Remember to reconnect the earth leads for the
LH injection system when refitting the fuel pres-
sure regulator.

Throttle-position sensor
1 Unplug the electrical leads from the sensor.

2 Remove the screws securing the sensor to
the inlet manifold and lift off the sensor.

Refit in the reverse order.

Adjust the position of the sensor (see section
E5),

Fuel injection manifold and injection val-
ves

To remove

N.B

Scrupulous cleanliness must be observed in
work on the fuel injection manifold and injection
valves. Wash the areas around the injection val-
ves, the fuel injection manifold and the inlet
manifold, and blow the areas clean using com-
pressed air.

1 Detach the crankcase ventilation hose from
the camshaft cover.

2 Unplug the electrical connectors from the in-
jection valves.

3 Free the wiring loom by undoing the clip lo-
cated where the fuel injection manifold is.at-
tached to the inlet manifold,

4 Disconnect the hose connections (banjo fit-
tings) at either end of the fuel injection man-
ifold.

N.B
Hold the injection manifold steady by means ofa
Spanner on the flats at either end.

Caution
Always Wipe dry any leaked fuel.

5 Remove the bolts securing the fuel injection
manifold to the inlet manifold.

6 Lift off the fuel injection manifold complete
with injection valves.

7 Slide off the clips located between the injec-
tion valves and the fuel injection manifold.

8 Remove the injection valves from the fuel in-
jection manifold by twisting and then pulling
them off.

To refit

Before refitting, check the “0” rings and replace
any that are damaged.

To facilitate refitting and to reduce the risk of the
“O”" rings being damaged, apply petroleum jelly
sparingly to the rings.

1 Fit the injection valves in the fuel injection
manifold.

2 Refit the fuel injection manifold complete
with valves onto the inlet manifold.

Check that the injection valves are in the cor-
rect position and pushed fully home in the
inlet manifold, and that the flange of the fuel
injection manifold lines up with the groove
for the clips for the injection valves. Fit the
clips.

Continue in the reverse order of removal.

Air mass meter

4 Slacken the hose clip securing the flexible
duct to the air mass meter.

2 Unplug the electrical connector and release
the two toggle fasteners for the air cleaner
housing cover.

3 Lift the air mass meter clear of the cover and
the flexible duct.

4 Fit the new air mass meter. Make sure that
the ridge in the air mass meter and the re-
cess in the cover line up and then secure the
fasteners.

5 Fit the flexible duct onto the air mass meter
and tighten the hose clip.

6 Plug in the electrical connector.

Fuel filter

4 Thoroughly clean the areas round the fuel
line connections.

2 Prevent the filter from twisting by using an
open-ended spanner on the hexagons on the
filter and banjo fitting, respectively, and dis-
connect the fuel lines. Remove the filter.

N.B

To prevent swarf from the threads getting into
the fuel system, do not remove the fitting on the
discharge side.

3 Fit the new filter with the arrow pointing In
the direction of flow and reconnect the fuel
lines.

N.B
if the filter has been fitted the wrong way round,
it must not be refitted; fit a new filter.

Fuel pressure regulator

N.B
Remember that there is residual pressure in the
line. Wipe up any leaked fuel immediately.

1 Disconnect the hose from the fuel injection
manifold at the nipple on the fuel pressure
regulator.

2 Disconnect the hose between the Inlet man-
ifold and the diaphragm side of the fue!
pressure regulator.

Remove the fuel pressure regulator com-
plete with bracket from the cylinder head.

@

4 Disconnect the return fuel line from the fuel

j& pressure regulator.
@ 5 Detach the fuel pressure regulator from the

bracket.

Refit in the reverse order,

N.B

Remember to reconnect the earth leads for the
LH system when refitting the fuel pressure reg-
ulator.

ev
te rr) Auxillary air valve

1 Slacken the hose clips and détach the
hoses,

2 Disconnect the electrical leads.

3 Unscrew the auxiliary air valve.

Refit in the reverse order.

AIC valve

1 Unplug the connector,

2 Undo the hose clips and detach the hoses.

3

Undo the screws and lower the valve out of
its mounting.

Refit in the reverse order.

To adjust the setting of the AIC valve, see M1B.

Air cleaner filter element

4

Unplug the air mass meter connector and re-
lease the two toggle fasteners securing the
air cleaner to the air mass meter. Lift the air
mass meter and turn it to‘one side, out of the
way.

Release the four toggle fasteners and liftoff
the top.
Lift out the filter element.

Fit a new filter element, making sure it is
properly centred inside the air cleaner.

Refit the top. Turn the top to line up the fas-
teners and to bring the spigot for the air
mass meter in line with the inlet to the turbo
unit. Secure the toggle fasteners.

Reconnect the air mass meter, Line up the
ridge in the air mass meter with the groove in
