High beam indicator light (blue).
The light glows when the headlights are on
high beam.
Combination instrument
~ Brake warning light (red).
The light glows when the handbrake is on or
when the brake fluid level is too low. If the light
goes on while the c~r is in motion, the problem
should be traced immediately and any nece~ry
repairs should be carried out by an authorized

¢ i> Direction indicator light (green).
A light blinks in time with the direction indicators.
The car has a trip meter with the zeroing but•

Charge indicator light (yellow).
If the light glows, the alternator is not charging.
The setting button is located to the left of

Fuel warning light ( orange).
The lighI shows a steady glow when there are
less than around 2 imp. gallons (10 litres) left in
the tank.

The tachometer indicates the spee<lof the engine in hundreds of revolutions per minute. The
needle should never enter the solid red zone. The
needle should only be allowed to enter the broken
red zone for brief periods. The ignition system
of LheSaab 99 Turbo is equipped with a device
which cuts off the power supply to the ignition
at 6 000 rev/min.

Oil pressure warning light (red).
Glows to indicate dangerously low oil pres•
sure or oil level. When starting, never move off
until this light has gone ouL If it lights up wl1ile
you are driving, switch off the engine al once
and investigate the cause.

Lighting switches
~
Headlights and parking lights
The tangent switch has tluee positions:
Top pushed in
The lighting is off.
Bottom pushed in
The headligh LSare on if the ignition key is in the G or K positions.

To switch from high beam to low beam,
move the lever towards tl1e steering wheel. Th is
will also produce a high beam flash when only
the corner or parking lights are switched on.

NOTE
Intermediate position
The parking lights are on, irre•
spective of the position of the
ignition key.
The lighting is automatically extinguished if the ignition key is turned to the
L position. The parking lights can be left
on, however, if the switch is moved to 1l1e
intermediateposition.

6 Controls and Instruments.
Direction indicators
The indicators wiJJ flash when the lever is
moved in the direction in which the steering
wheel is turned.
The switch is equipped with a spring.loaded
contact position for when the driver wishes to
indicate that he is changing lanes or overtaking.
There is also a t1Xedposition 10 indicate turning
and the lever will return automatically to a neutral position when the steering wheel returns to
the centre position.

Corner lamp
Carsfor Great Britain have corner lamps
combinedwith the parkinglights. The corner
lamps are switchedon with a specialswitch on
the instmment panel and can be switched on
regardlessof the headlightswitch position.
The corner lamps are automaticallyextinguished
when the ignitionkey is turne-dto the L position.
Interior illumination
The interior illuminationcomprisesthree
lights,located above the left door post, close to
the rear-viewmirror and beside the ignition
switch.The lightingis controlled by meansof a
three-positionswitch on the lampby the door
pillar (see illustration).The interior illumination
may also be operaled by meansof a switchon
the consolebetween the front seats(see illustration). This switch can only be operatedwhen
the door post lamp switchis in the upper position. Check that the interior lights are switched
off when you leavethe car.

Reversing light
The reversinglightscome on automatically

Instrument and control illumination
Turn the knob down to increasethe intensity
of the illumination.The illuminationis switched
off with the knob in its upper position.This illumination lightsonly when the parkinglightsor
the headlightsare on.

Hazard warning flashers
Whenthe switch is in the operatingposition
all four direction indicator lights flashsimultaneously.The warningsystem shouldonly be
used if the car is in a position where it is liable
to endangeror obstmct other vehiclesas a result
of an accident,breakdown,etc.
